Why are Minerals contained in some Nutrition Supplements?
So, why are minerals important in nutrition supplements?
First of all, a definition of minerals. Minerals are ” nutrients required by the body to help facilitate a multitude of biochemical and physiologic processes necessary for the maintenance of life.* Some of these processes include supporting the health of organs, bones, tissue and the immune system.* Minerals are not synthesized in our bodies; therefore we must acquire them from outside sources.”1
Experts say that the best way to get minerals such as potassium, phosphorous, nitrogen, molybdenum, manganese, magnesium, zinc and others, is to eat food containing these minerals. However, food these days seldom contain enough of these essential minerals or vitamins.
The Farmland is short of minerals because of intensive farming and chemical fertilizers being used. In previous centuries there was flooding of the land, and volcanic and organic debris washed over the farming lands as sediment. Now, there are flood control projects, so this doesn’t occur.
Mineral solutions are extracted from natural mineral formations, a few coming from deep inside the earth – from formations of bio-concentrated minerals. Thousands of years ago, leafy flora and other organic substances richly concentrated the minerals in certain formations. These formations are mined and the minerals are retrieved.
The mineral solutions are available in a very concentrated, sterile liquid so they are easily absorbed.
So, minerals are just as important as vitamins in a Nutrition Supplement.
