Nutrition – Ten Reasons For Proper Nutrition
Nutrition is what you provide to your body, in the form of food and drink, to support life within your body’s cells. It is what you eat and drink, which is known as your diet. There are all different kinds of nutrition, and not all of it is beneficial to supporting life. Experts recommend that you eat and drink certain nutrients for good reasons. In this article, we discuss ten reasons for giving your body proper nutrition.
1. By taking certain nutrients, you can reduce the risk of certain illnesses.
Most people want to have the chance of a long healthy life, and therefore want to reduce illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis and certain cancer. Proper nutrition goes a long way towards reducing the risks.
2. Good Nutrition Improves your Immune System
By taking certain nutrients, you build up your immune system, and are less susceptible to viruses that other people have.
3. Good Nutrition Can Help to Get You Fit
If you are unfit already, it’s a real challenge to exercise because of the lack of energy. So, if you feed your body with proper nutrition, you’ll get more energy and feel like exercising to get fit.
4. Have Fun and Do the things you Want to do
If you are on a good diet most of the time, you can do new and strenuous activities like rock climbing or wind surfing, or scuba diving, things that take a lot of energy and strength. Having the right nutrients in your body, builds your strength and confidence to do different things.
5. Look Good and Healthy
When taking good nutrition, you look good. Your body will be trim and lean, and your skin look clear and healthy, nails are stronger, and your hair looks shinier.
6. You Will Feel Good with Good Nutrition
I believe this is the most important. With good nutrition, you feel much better because your cells are getting the nutrients they require.
7. Improve the Quality of Your Life
When you look and feel good, you have a lot more confidence. It’s easier to get the job you want or to have a successful business, or just to do the things you love doing.
8. Learn More Easily
Healthy children learn more easily, and this is shown by research studies. I believe this is true for adults also, and that learning is a fun part of life at any age.
9. Improve Your Vision
Good nutrition improves your vision, including night vision.
10. Improve Your Memory
Your memory will be improved if you take certain nutrients, and this will improve your working life, or make it more fun in relationships with other people, to remember things you’ve heard or read before.
By reading about these ten reasons for good nutrition, I hope you were inspired to think about what you eat and drink, and to have good nutrition for yourself.

Medical Research Study about Optimism
A recent medical research study found that optimistic people are less likely to contract certain fatal diseases. The study was done over 8 years, on post-menopausal women. This is interesting research when looked at in the context of the “law of attraction”. This law states that whatever you focus on you get.
The study found that:
“Over eight years of follow-up:
* Women who scored highest for optimism had a 9% lower risk for developing heart disease and a 14% lower risk of dying from all causes than women who scored lowest for optimism.
* Women with a high degree of hostility and cynicism were 16% more likely to die than women who scored lowest for hostility and cynicism. The heart disease rate was similar for both groups.”

Vitamin D levels and The Sun
A recent article in the Washington post looks at what’s happening with children in regard to Vitamin D. Now that children have TV, and with the scare of skin cancer, many children don’t get enough sun to give them the amount of Vitamin D required.
According to the Health news in the Washington Post, this puts kids at risk of heart disease, bone problems, diabetes and other ailments.
Recent studies show that low Vitamin D levels are common among people with darker skin, adolescents and girls in particular.

Mangosteen Juice: Make sure and choose one that is top quality.
The following are terms by which the Mangosteen juice is acknowledged and called – Miracle juice, Queen of all fruits, Antioxidant per excellence. This is because of its qualities and characteristics, which are thought to have the power to cure most ailments and disorders. Mangosteen juice contains a lot of xanthones and antioxidants, which reputedly help kick out all forms of ailments from the body.
Well, while these statements give the impression to be extreme and over hyped, it is more and more apparent that quite a few people are really enjoying the benefits and are claiming small “miracles” just as a consequence of taking the juice. Some have claimed greater energy levels while others have confirmed that it helped them get rid of their dysentery, hypertension and other similar ailments like recurrent headaches. Either way, as a fruit juice, it has all the benefits of the typical fruit and more.
Because of the mangosteen juice increased reputation and the rate at which manufacturers are going into the industry, it is hard to know what brand to purchase and what the determinants or featured of a trusted brand are.
There are various attributes to watch out for in high quality drinks generally. These also relate to Mangosteen juice regardless of the packaging and the brand name. The very first thing to look out for to determine the quality and value of what you will be getting in any bottle of juice you want to purchase is:
1. If independent tests were carried out on the brand. These independent tests should show such things as the precise amount or number of xanthones and phytonutrients available in a given bottle. This makes sense as the higher the number of xanthones or phytonutrients available in any bottle, the higher the possibility of its working as an ailment kicker and a promoter of health. This is the reason we all take fruits in the first place -to be in top health.
2. Its Oxygen Radical Absorbance capacity value. This is very important as we all keep building up free radicals in our bodies during the day’s activities. When there are little or no antioxidants present in the body, it is more than likely that the body will be more susceptible to ailments.
3. Watch out for the methods of processing the juice. Some manufacturers heat the juice just before it is bottled up as a means of preserving it for longer periods. Unfortunately, research has shown that once fruits are heated, they lose their nutrients. And if the nutrients obtainable are lost, why would you want to spend that amount of money on a bottle of juice? As an alternative , look for a product that is cold processed.
4. The great amounts of xanthones and phytonutrients existing in the Mangosteen are mostly contained in the pericarp and the seeds of the mangosteen. So, look for those Mangosteen Juice products with the whole fruit puree -this means the whole fruit is included with nothing left out.

Tasted the Mangosteen Fruit at Last!
A few days ago, I was at the market and overheard someone say “What are these”? I looked and there was a pile of cute little mangosteens. I purchased a couple for Aussie $1.50 each. I asked where they came from and they said they’d been imported from Thailand. Here’s a picture of both of them.

The lady who sold them to me said to cut the mangosteen in half through the center. Silly me! I cut it all the way through, and a bright red juice started pouring out of the fruit. I realized I wasn’t supposed to cut right through. Anyway, at least you can see all the seeds and the pulp of the fruit in this picture.
I cut the second mangosteen properly by stopping the knife when I got to the soft part. One half of the mangosteen just fell off cleanly, and it looks more like all the other pictures of mangosteen.

I took the white part out carefully, and it consisted of tiny little segments (similar to the segments that an orange has). I really can’t tell you what it tasted like though! It was entirely different to any other fruit I had ever tasted.

A delicious taste! I tasted some of the pericarp (the red part you can see in the hollow section) and it wasn’t nice at all. I’m glad that Vemma has included the pericarp in their Vemma mangosteen juice, and camouflaged the taste.
I took a photo of the mangosteen next to a rather large passionfruit, to show you the relative size. This passionfruit is a bit bigger than the average passionfruit.
